Important Update: Low-Cost Therapy & Teen Talks Rates

Effective January 1, 2026

Dear Community,

As The Healing Project of MN continues to grow, one of our priorities is ensuring that mental health care remains accessible while maintaining sustainable operations. Each year, we review our services to make sure we can continue offering low-cost and pro bono therapy to those who need it most.  Beginning January 1, 2026, our community-rate services will be updated as follows:

  • Low-Cost Therapy Sessions: $30 per session, previously $20
  • Teen Talks: $15 per session, previously $10

Current clients will be grandfathered in at their existing rate.  No action is needed.  Any new client(s) who schedule and complete their first session on or before December 31, 2025, will also be grandfathered into the current low-cost and teen talk rates.

These changes allow us to continue providing high-quality care, expand our community support programs, and maintain the long-term stability of our agency. We remain deeply committed to offering accessible mental health services for children, teens, adults, and families across Minnesota.  Thank you for being part of our community.

Take good care,

Holly Walters

Financial Promise.

Our services are designed to support individuals facing racial trauma, gender inequities, immigration-related stress, and other forms of systemic oppression. We believe in healing that is not only therapeutic, but transformative—rooted in social justice, cultural humility, and a deep commitment to empowering our clients to thrive in a world that often marginalizes them. We specialize in serving teens, young adults, and college students.   You can read our therapist specialties here.

When we say your mental health is our priority, we mean it. We are dedicated to removing barriers to mental healthcare, ensuring that no one is turned away due to inability to pay. Currently, we accept major insurance plans, offer private pay, low-cost, and sliding scale therapy services.

Many of our psychoeducation workshops and info sessions offered through our Community Wellness Hub are free of charge; some are available for a nominal fee (usually $10 or less). If you need financial assistance, please contact billing@thehealingprojectmn.org or reach out to your current therapist/social worker at The Healing Project of MN.

Good Faith Estimate.

You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your medical and mental health care will cost. Under the law, health care providers must give patients who don’t have insurance or are not using insurance an estimate of the expected charges for medical services, including psychotherapy services.  You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of non-emergency healthcare services, including psychotherapy services. You can ask your healthcare provider and any other provider you choose for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule a service.  If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate,  you can dispute the bill. Make sure to save a copy or picture of your  Good Faith Estimate. For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises.
